John & Cathy Windsor saw the potential in the 24-acre property back in 2007, when the fields were fallow and overgrown. They soon set about clearing and planting two blocks comprising of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and the Island's largest planting of Gruner Veltliner, a luscious Austrian white.
Sons Chris and Ryan, and their wives Natalie and Helen soon joined in, making it a family project. Farm manager John Thomas can usually be spotted driving a tractor or forklift, or mending a fence or trellis.
Winemaker Ken Winchester guided the original plantings, then stepped in to oversee the winemaking. Ken is a veteran of wineries in California and BC, and has taught viticulture for UBC Okanagan.
